Alpha Track Detectors

These are really a cool way of detecting Radon but also quite frightening. Theses units have a piece of plastic that is bombarded with alpha particles just like your lungs are when the radon is inhaled. The particles become etched with every alpha hit. Tha lab actually counts the “bullet holes” to determine how much radon is in your home. In this video, Doug Kladder shows you exactly how the ATD (Alpha Track Detector) works.
